I use Virtual DJ. You can use Rekordbox or Serato if you prefer, but I will only be teaching Virtual DJ in this course. Virtual DJ is free to use without a controller. You can do every function on Virtual DJ without a controller, but it’s much more comfortable and fun (in my opinion) to use a controller. If you use a controller, you’ll need to either pay monthly or one time to buy the software (approximately USD $300 in Feb 2026).
***IMPORTANT*** Starting with Virtual DJ 2026, the free version has an audio drop that says “Virtual DJ” very loudly and drops every 30 minutes or so.
This version is *not* usable for parties.
I have archived the last version of 2025. I suggest you use the 2025 version while you are learning. Only update Virtual DJ when you buy a controller and need to buy the software.
